Bald Eagle at DuBois Reservoir

So I'm new to this whole blogging thing, let's see if I can't get up and going. today between class and work, I went to the DuBois Reservoir in hopes to see some new waterfowl species. There were a large number of canada geese, and a big raft of diving ducks which were mostly ring-necked ducks, with a few hooded mergansers, pied-billed grebes, and rudy ducks mixed among them. I also saw several dozen mallards, and 4 american black ducks. Something caught my eye above the raft of divers, when I got my binos on it I found it was an adult american bald eagle. The bird didn't stick around long, circling the divers for a minute then proceeding with migration. It is really amazing the comeback that the bald eagle has made over the years. I remember when I was really little, the highlight of a fishing trip to Pymatuning or Sinnemahoning with dad was seeing a bald eagle. This year I have seen at least ten migrating past the DuBois Reservoir, which considering how much time I get to spend birding, is pretty good. It is great to be able to see that the efforts of conservationists and scientists pay off. Sadly, I didn't get any photos of the eagle, not that I know how to upload them yet anyway..
